How It Happened

Getting off to a slow start in set one, the 'Dogs fell behind 14-4 before ripping off a 7-0 run capped off by a kill from Savanah Smith. A quick 3-0 run from the 'Dogs that was finished off with a service ace from Ella Rud brought the visitors within four at 23-19 and forced a Falcon timeout, but Air Force closed out the set with two of the final three points for a five-point win.

After the 'Dogs fell behind 12-10 to start the second set, the Bulldogs got hot and ripped off eight straight points, including four kills, to take a 18-12 lead. A kill from grace Doyle, one of six on the day for the Bulldog junior, put the 'Dogs up 20-14, but Air Force closed out the set on a tear going on an 11-3 run to win a thrilling set, 25-23.

The final set saw the 'Dogs get out to an 11-8 lead after a kill by Rud, but the Falcons answered back with an 8-2 run to take a 16-13 lead and force a Bulldog timeout. Out of the break, a kill by Rebecca Rendahl and an attack error by the Falcons brought the 'Dogs within one at 16-15, but that was as close as they would get with Air Force winning the set by five.
