Doug Gottlieb Says Dwight Howard is Not a Hall of Famer

Cleveland Cavaliers v Orlando Magic, Game 6
Doug Gottlieb: “Dwight Howard is one of those guys that statistics belie everything and will tell you that he’s still a dominant player. I’d have a hard time with him in the Hall of Fame. He’s been a member of six NBA teams since leaving Orlando in 2012. When you hear ‘interest is mutual’, that’s like two people walking past each other in a bar and being attracted to each other. That doesn’t mean they’re going to hook up. It just means the Lakers need a center and the other names that are out there are Cody Zeller, Marcin Gortat, or Joakim Noah.” (FULL AUDIO AT BOTTOM OF PAGE).

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why he doesn’t believe the Los Angeles Lakers will end up signing embattled former superstar center Dwight Howard, as the once-great big man is openly being dangled by the indifferent Memphis Grizzlies who don’t seem to really care if teams talk to a forlorned asset they’ll likely cut.

After DeMarcus Cousins’ likely season-ending ACL injury, the team has scrambled to find a backup big man that would warrant a minuscule salary.

It was reported the Lakers and Howard had ‘mutual interest’ with one another, as Howard was once a Laker in the 2012-2013 season.

Check out the audio below as Gottlieb says he doesn’t see the Lakers pulling the trigger, and details why Howard was always a guy whose stats didn’t tell the real story behind a flawed player.
