USAFA ACADEMY, Colo.- Fresno State women's basketball drops their three game conference win in a rough and tumble game against the Air Force Falcons on Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena, 65-36.
Bulldogs handed the Falcons their first conference win of the season.
How it Happened
The opening five minutes dwindled down with Fresno State missing the basket as Air Force opened on a 9-0 run. Mariah Elohim made the first basket, seven minutes into play with a deep three. Falcons' bounced back with another three-pointer of their own to hold a nine point lead, 3-12. It was another four minutes before the Bulldogs landed their next shot in. Kylee Fox banks in the second three-pointer of the game. Falcons forced the 'Dogs to six turnovers in the first period to hold a 13 point lead, 19-6.
Steal and score, Elohim grabbed the ball off a bad pass to pass it straight to Fox at the basket. Fresno State suffered four turnovers in just two minutes. Falcons' shot 2-2 on a trip to the line after entering the bonus. Air Force played on a 6-0 run that lasted over five minutes. In that five minute scoring drought Fresno State had six turnovers. Elohim hit the last bucket of the first half in the final three seconds. Falcons' couldn't push past and stayed with a 13 point lead over the Bulldogs at the half, 27-14.
A 4-1 run in favor of the 'Dogs opened the second half. Jacobs shot her first points from the field, good for three. Elohim chipped the Falcons 20 point lead down after a shot from downtown. Fox's trip to the charity line is good (2-2). Fresno State was stumped at 27 points for ten minutes before Fox's next attempt at the foul line, 2-2. Air Force saw a 18-0 run from the field starting from the third period. Holly Griffiths came in to put in a layup and three-pointer to finish for the 'Dogs.
