SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team came up short in a Tuesday night match up at Sacramento State, falling 4-3 at John Smith Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State got off to a quick start, plating a run in the first inning with an RBI single from Cam Schneider.
Eddie Saldivar hit a single, and the 'Dogs added another run in the second inning, taking a 2-1 lead as starting pitcher Tyler Patrick kept the Hornets' bats in check early.
Sacramento State leveled the score in the second and began applying pressure in the middle innings. The Hornets' offense broke through with a run in the sixth to reclaim the lead.
The Diamond 'Dogs began a ninth inning rally, scoring a run to narrow the gap to 4-3. Schneider drove in a run, but Sacramento State's bullpen ultimately closed the door, leaving the tying run stranded.
The loss drops the Bulldogs to 10-15 on the season, while Sacramento State improves to 15-10.

Fresno State split the season series with Sacramento State, with one loss and one win against the Hornets in 2025.
