FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team is kicking off its final homestand of the season, hosting San Jose State and Pacific this week.
The Bulldogs are in a tight race for the Mountain West Regular Season Championship going into their final home conference series as the Spartans come to town. The series begins on Friday at 6:05 p.m., continues on Saturday at 3:05 p.m., and concludes with Senior Day on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
Following the series, the Diamond 'Dogs will host Pacific for the final home game of 2025 on Tuesday at 5:05 p.m.
CANINE COMPANIONS
The Bulldogs sit at a three-way tie for the top spot in the Mountain West standings, paired with Nevada and New Mexico, with a 15-9 record.
All three teams feature a canine mascot: the Bulldogs, the Lobos, and the Wolf Pack.
Fresno State completed its final series against Nevada last weekend, losing three straight games to the Wolf Pack.
The Diamond 'Dogs will face the Lobos in their final series of the regular season in New Mexico.
ONE LAST GO WITH THE BROS
Fresno State is celebrating Senior Day before the series finale against the Spartans on Sunday, before first pitch.
The Diamond 'Dogs will honor seniors Eddie Saldivar, Justin Stransky, Bobby Blandford, Caleb Anderson and Max Shor.
Saldivar, a Fresno native, has been on the Bulldog roster for two seasons after transferring home from Long Beach State.
Stransky is wrapping up his second season as a Bulldog and his first as the Bulldogs' starting catcher.
Blandford has been an outfielder for the Diamond 'Dogs for the last four years.
Anderson and Shor both transferred to Fresno State from Riverside JC and are completing their second seasons as Bulldogs.
THE LAST TIME AGAINST THE SPARTANS
Fresno State has previously faced the Spartans in a three-game series this season in San Jose.
Murf Gray led the Bulldogs at the plate against the Spartans in the teams' first meeting, going 7-for-14 with a double and a home run.
The Bulldog pitching staff struck out a total of 25 batters in the series and allowed only one walk, compared to the Spartans' 16 strikeouts and 12 walks allowed.
DOGS > CATS
Fresno State is hosting Pacific for the final midweek game of 2025 on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs have yet to allow a run to be scored by the Pacific Tigers, as Fresno State shut them out on the road less than two weeks ago.
Cooper Bergman earned his first win of the season against the Tigers, pitching two innings without allowing anyone to reach base.
Every Diamond 'Dog in the starting lineup reached base at least once against the Tigers.
The Fresno State pitching staff held the Bulldogs to only three hits, the least amount of hits allowed in a game this season.
