LOGAN, Utah - The Fresno State women's soccer team dropped their second conference game of the season after falling to Utah State by a final score of 7-1 at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field on Thursday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Utah State started the scoring in the 12th minute. After a foul inside the box by Sabrina Welch, the Aggies would capitalize on the penalty kick to go ahead 1-0. The Aggies doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Tess Wert's shot beat Shivani Battaglia for Utah State's second goal of the night.
Werts added another goal two minutes later with a shot from outside the top of the box that found the top left corner of the net to make it three unanswered goals for Utah State. The Bulldogs were held without a shot in the first half as the Aggies maintained their 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Fresno State got on the board seven minutes into the second half off a corner kick. The Bulldogs took advantage of the Aggies inability to clear the ball as the Aggies put the ball into their own goal to give Fresno State their first goal of the contest.
The Aggies responded six minutes later as Werts scored her third of the night to secure the hat trick and make it 4-1 lead for Utah State. Three more goals were scored by Utah State in the final thirty of the match including Wert's fourth of the night as Fresno State dropped their third road game of the season by a final score of 7-1.
